Interview about painting the coast with Elisabeth Jones Art Center

KVIE Video Interview with Jill (3 min.)

Jill Estroff strives to capture the essence or feeling of a scene, as photography freed artists from illustration long go.

"Although I do take many photographs each day for inspiration, they're just a starting point for my paintings." Landscapes and figures are interpreted with a loose, abstract style. Working at the Crocker Art Museum from 1986-93, art classes and workshops inform the artwork.

Estroff admires the vivid color and bold brushwork of expressionist painters and is influenced by Matisse, Bonnard, van Gogh, Monet, Cezanne, early Kandinsky and Diebenkorn. Jill recently accepted the position of Art Curator for the 2021 KVIE Art Auction.
